Looking For Work

It's as impossible to be here
As anywhere else

She stares at the stars
while I eat my muffin

One hungry with wonder
The other full

To always be in motion there is no choice
even for the mountain and its frigid
cousins floating on the oceans that even sluggish
seethe and moan and laugh out loud at their own
jokes. How "like the human heart" can be said of
pert near everything, pint of fizz, punching
bag because all moves: the mouse, the house,
the pelt of moon corresponding to the seas
(see above) (now get back here) of mood,
sadness heaving kelp at the sunken city's
face, gladness somersaulting from the eaves
like a kid's drawing of a snowflake.

A ghost on the telephone

you’re waking the dead feelings in me
you’re pulling the rug right from under my feet

your making my stone cold heart start to beat
my love for you is like a zombie

The smell of my breath
from the blood in your neck
oh, I hold my soul
from the lands unknown
So I can play the strings of your death
